FERN WOODS . Phoenixville, PA

This 3,400sf contemporary home was built in 1968 by Robert McElroy, who built many similar homes in the Philadelphia suburbs in the 60's and 70's. This home had great bones but had largely original dated finishes. We completely renovated the entire home with new engineered white oak flooring throughout and a minimal black and white palate that let the floor to ceiling windows and beautiful surrounding landscape provide the primary visual interest. The existing gas fireplace was replaced by a modern wood stove, accented with a new blackened steel hearth and mantle and artisan plaster. The wall between the kitchen and dining rooms was removed creating better visual connectivity and the opportunity for a large central island with bar seating. The bathrooms include large format porcelain tile slabs in the wet areas.
